If you are not doing it yourself I would suggest a new one for $2,000. I will, at the very least, be assembled by the manufacturer with warranty and the best chance at working properly. "Rebuilding" a trans is not alway cost effective because since many of the parts roll on themselves, if you need to replace everything but the case then why not get a new one? I have worked on several in my day and have found that if the gears are not popping out all you need is synchronizers and a few clips and seals. Case bearings never go bad (at least I've never seen one). All other rolling parts "roll on themselves" (by this I mean that there are no replaceable parts between shafts and gears). Contrary to popular belief, on constant mesh designs, the gears themselves never wear just the engaging teeth and the sliders.
